The Noble Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:--"He who does not show to people, Allah also does not show mercy to him".(Bukhari)
Quite often, when we want to be mean to somebody or punish them, we are able to give ourselves ample justification for it. This Hadith gives us one good reason to put our anger/meanness aside, and show forgiveness/gentleness instead. None can do without Allah's Mercy, so not shut the door of goodness on yourself by being petty with others. It simply is not worth it..
